Sound Therapy

Nourishing & Restorative Gong Sound Bath

Led by Jackie, this is a regular event at Optimum You studio.

A gong bath (meditation), also known as a Sound Bath, or Sound Massage is a fully clothed relaxing and blissful experience where you ‘bathe’ in the healing sound waves. You simply lie down on a mat, wrap yourself in a blanket, head on a pillow, close your eyes and relax.

What to Expect:

  • Please arrive promptly at 8pm to allow plenty of time to settle in. The Sound Bath will start with you being welcomed to a warm, candle lit studio with calming essential oils.
  • After a brief introduction, you will be invited to lie down and get comfortable. Mats, blankets and eye masks are provided by us, you are also welcome to bring your own pillows and blankets.
  • We start with a guided meditation to help you relax, then using a variety of instruments, you will be taken on a journey using sound therapy to help you relax, restore and reset.
  • After an hour or so of sound, you will be then be brought gently back down to earth and into a time of silence.
  • The session will finish at 9:30pm, at which point you can quietly depart, or stay for herbal teas/chocolate and a time of gentle reflection.

The benefits:

  • High quality gongs produce sound waves to release tensions in the body and mind, strengthen the nervous system and create physical shifts by lowering blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol.
  • These instruments facilitate an altered state of consciousness (ASC) to improve self-awareness, reduce stress and create a deep sense of peace and wellbeing. Sound therapy immersions are especially helpful for people who struggle to “switch off” or meditate, as the trajectory of sounds induce states of profound physical relaxation.
  • Meditation helps us to cope with stress, reduces the pain reflex and changes the way we perceive the world around us. This can take us from an anxious state to one of more grounded calmness.
  • Whether you are a regular or a complete newcomer to sound therapy, you will find this a helpful way to switch off and take time away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Practicalities:

  • Come dressed for comfort and bring a blanket or duvet, as your body temperature drops when you are lying still. It is recommended to bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

Exchange: £25
