Sound Therapy

All Night Gong Puja

Saturday 4th July 9pm-6am

An entire night to be blissfully soothed in a gentle Gong Bath while you sleep, dream and meditate the night away.

The Gong Puja is a very special ceremony and experience with the sound vibrations lasting 7 ½ hours which is the equivalent of 10 x 45 minute Gong Baths. You will be accompanied by a team of magical gongs and sound practitioners on an intensely unique and individual journey of deep healing and relaxation. It was said by Yogi Bhajan that 10 consecutive gong baths can cure everything. So this is really a special and profound experience.

The All Night Puja encourages deep meditation, energetic balancing, a complete mental reset, emotional release and profound relaxation amongst other things. It is an offering which cannot be described and has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Your gong players and sound healers Jackie Searle, Shannon DeSario and Wendy Lines; will be rotating to play throughout the night. 1-2 people will be playing and awake at all times to “hold the space” and make sure that the gong sound remains at a gentle, meditative level.

What is going to happen in the Gong Puja?

When you arrive you make your “bed” for the night and we will serve tea. Then we tune in to the night with some beautiful practices to ground and centre our energy, set our intentions for the puja and begin the relaxation process. The sounds are introduced by playing gently the Wind Chimes, Ocean Drum and other instruments leading you into the Puja.

Immersed in the sound of the gong and in the subtle ethers of the sound bath, we repair and rejuvenate as the cosmic vibrations wash over us; cleansing, unblocking and freeing us. The functional harmony created by the gong tones bring about an inner stillness where deep healing can occur. During the Puja, we meditate – or we sleep – a sleep like no other; where we are awake in a dream. We will be accompanied by several beautiful gongs with a spectrum of healing frequencies. Seven and a half hours of uninterrupted sound will bring healing and clarity to our souls as well as reducing stress and tension, harmonising us to our natural frequency and balance.

After the gongs go silent at 5.30am there is space for integration in silence, and light breakfast and fresh fruit is served to start brightly the new day.

Yoga mats will be available, we recommended you bring additional comfortable blankets for under and over you, and a single duvet or sleeping bag (ideally one that does not rustle when you move) so you can rest and be comfortable during the night. You may wish to bring a camping mat, soft padding or an inflatable mattress, but this must be single size. A pillow will also add to your comfort.

Please wear warm, comfortable layered clothing and cosy socks and bring a bottle of drinking water and a journal and pen. If you are likely to be bothered by snoring you may wish to bring ear plugs, these will not prevent you from receiving the benefits of the vibrations.

You can bring your crystals and malas to charge them with high vibrational, harmonious energy. No previous experience is necessarily needed to participate in this very special event but we would recommend you have attended at least one Sound Bath before as this can be an intense ceremony. Everybody is welcome from 16 years of age.

Is there anyone a puja is not suitable for?

Gong baths in general are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker, anyone who suffers from epileptic fits, those with bipolar or schizophrenia as these can be triggered by sound or anyone who is extremely sensitive to sound. They are also not recommended to women in the 1st three months of pregnancy. If you wear a hearing aid, this should be turned off during the puja.

Caution should be taken by those who have metal implants, tinnitus or are in the third trimester of pregnancy.

If you have any concerns, please speak with your doctor in advance.

Nourishing & Restorative Gong Sound Bath

Led by Jackie, this is a regular event at Optimum You studio.

A gong bath (meditation), also known as a Sound Bath, or Sound Massage is a fully clothed relaxing and blissful experience where you ‘bathe’ in the healing sound waves. You simply lie down on a mat, wrap yourself in a blanket, head on a pillow, close your eyes and relax.

What to Expect:

  • Please arrive promptly at 8pm to allow plenty of time to settle in. The Sound Bath will start with you being welcomed to a warm, candle lit studio with calming essential oils.
  • After a brief introduction, you will be invited to lie down and get comfortable. Mats, blankets and eye masks are provided by us, you are also welcome to bring your own pillows and blankets.
  • We start with a guided meditation to help you relax, then using a variety of instruments, you will be taken on a journey using sound therapy to help you relax, restore and reset.
  • After an hour or so of sound, you will be then be brought gently back down to earth and into a time of silence.
  • The session will finish at 9:30pm, at which point you can quietly depart, or stay for herbal teas/chocolate and a time of gentle reflection.

The benefits:

  • High quality gongs produce sound waves to release tensions in the body and mind, strengthen the nervous system and create physical shifts by lowering blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol.
  • These instruments facilitate an altered state of consciousness (ASC) to improve self-awareness, reduce stress and create a deep sense of peace and wellbeing. Sound therapy immersions are especially helpful for people who struggle to “switch off” or meditate, as the trajectory of sounds induce states of profound physical relaxation.
  • Meditation helps us to cope with stress, reduces the pain reflex and changes the way we perceive the world around us. This can take us from an anxious state to one of more grounded calmness.
  • Whether you are a regular or a complete newcomer to sound therapy, you will find this a helpful way to switch off and take time away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Practicalities:

  • Come dressed for comfort and bring a blanket or duvet, as your body temperature drops when you are lying still. It is recommended to bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

Exchange: £25
